July 03 - Primary Image and Alenia Marconi Systems sign new contract

Primary Image, expert in PC based IG solutions, has recently signed a new agreement with Alenia Marconi Systems to further extend its support contract for the HAST trainer (Harrier Avionics System Trainer) at RAF Wittering. Primary Image originally supplied the image generators to Alenia Marconi Systems following a requirement to update a Harrier GR7 training device.

The HAST trainer is used as a part-task trainer to emulate the harrier GR7 cockpit. HAST provides training for the management of navigation, communications, weapons and sensor avionics. The IGs provide the out of the window views plus overlays (visual and FLIR), various heads-up displays and maps.

The trainer is well established and easily upgradeable. Students can practise training runs and sorties on this low cost trainer without having to use a costly full flight sim. In the long-term, the trainer will be upgraded once again to replicate the new Harrier GR9.
