We have recently attracted funding from the Learning and Skills Council to deliver skills training in Literacy, Numeracy and Communication, and are offering you the opportunity to access this training free.

The aim of the communication qualification course is to help you to develop and demonstrate your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills which includes the use of images for different purposes. This great qualification will help you develop and apply those skills you already have, focused to your work setting.

If you or your employer are interested please contact Judith Kingdon at Network Training on 01736 332318.

A survey by CIPD/KPMG quarterly Labour Market Outlook of more than 1,400 UK employers shows that the attributes that top employers' wish lists are communication skills, work ethic - the basic desire to do a good job - and personality. Four out of ten employers put communication skills in their top three required attributes of new recruits, followed by work ethic and personality. These ranked higher than literacy, numeracy and formal qualifications.

What one employer had to say on basic skills:
Val Gooding, CEO of BUPA: "If your people deliver a great service, your customers stay with you and will recommend you to more customers, but if employees haven’t got the skills to deliver a good service you’re not going to win customer confidence. People think customer service is just about being polite and caring, but you can’t be polite and caring if you don’t know how to do your job properly."
