About MusicSpace



The MusicSpace Trust is a registered charity founded in 1989.It provides music therapy for children and adults in their own communities. The Trust currently has four active branches, Bristol, Nottingham, Hampshire and London.

The trust has four main roles:

  • It provides music therapy for children and adults with wide ranging health care needs.
  • It seeks to extend the benefits of music therapy to a wider range of the community through developing a UK wide network of community based centres.
  • It provides training for aspiring music therapists and workshops for carers and other health professionals.
  • It seeks to investigate and supervise research projects on the effectiveness and the processes of music therapy.
MusicSpace works with NHS Trusts, Social Services, Local Education Authorities and privately funded clients.The Trust's headquarters in Bristol is also responsible for training, research, development and information.

At Bristol MusicSpace we work with people with a wide range of problems and disabilities including:-
  • autistic spectrum disorders
  • cerebral palsy or other physical disabilities
  • communication problems
  • dementia
  • emotional and behavioural problems
  • learning disabilities
  • mental health problems
  • neurological problems
  • sensory impairments
  • terminal illness

At Bristol MusicSpace we have three well equipped music therapy rooms, one of which is accessible for wheel chair users. If apropriate it is possible for carers to observe sessions by video link or through a one way mirror.
