RAVENS SKI RACING CLUB

COACHING POLICY

For the major part of the year there will be three coaching groups and from October to roughly December there will be a University student group also.

GROUP 1,

THE ELITE

Skiers in this group would satisfy the vast majority of the following criteria;

· be ESC registered

· have relatively low plastic points circa under 250 points

· are prepared to travel to plastic races

· have individual goals and targets and are able to work independently

· have a strong desire to train on snow

· have a strong desire to race on snow.

GROUP 2

Skiers in this group would satisfy the vast majority of the following criteria;

· be competent parallel skiers

· be seriously considering becoming ESC registered

· be keen to learn to race by attending the RSL. NESA race, etc.

· take the opportunity to attend as many training opportunities as possible.

On Wednesday night sessions they would spend a significant proportion of time working together as a group. The emphasis would be on becoming skilled skier’s, having fun, whilst developing technique.

GROUP 3

Skiers in this group would include the following;

· new members of the club who are inexperienced skiers.

· very young skiers who may be very competent but need greater support

The major emphasis would be in developing a happy group atmosphere, of having fun as a supportive group, of seeing skiing as a fun activity. Game playing and fun races developing a wide range of ski skills would be included.
