Jonathan Associates and Binang Cadio Eco Statement.

In this day and age of travel, we are starting to hear more about Eco travel.

A little about our aim:

We are based in Essex England but are situated in Northern Samar in the Philippines, we are trying to protect the corals within the area, by taking tourist to the area, and showing them the beauty of Northern Samar, this then will enable us to re-investing into the local community which will eventually protect the local corals and wildlife.

As you are aware, corals are one of the mainstays in the eco system, in simplistic terms without them small fish and aquatic life cannot live, so then the larger fish would have nothing to live on.  The effect of damaging the corals has a disastrous effect on the local community, fish become scarce in the area meaning they have to travel further and further to enable them to feed their families, and it also has an affect to the World as a whole.

Because the majority of people in Samar are poor and have large families, and the main food source for the area is rice, coconuts, and fish.  Those people who have some money buy land and harvest coconuts and rice.  But it is the poor families who have to rely on fishing.

To help the locals we have set up a resort in Northern Samar and hope (with support) to give the local people a different form of income.  Many resorts say they are helping the local community but in fact they are destroying it bit by bit, because they do not involve the local community to the best advantage for all concerned, i.e. they buy Pepsi or Coke washing soap, rice, food from the factories or main suppliers.

We have and are buying from local shops and fishermen (as long as the fish show no signs of distress).  supplies, which allows the local store, fishermen to generate an income and profit.  We hire local fishermen and their boats as rescue/support boats for divers and tour boats for the visitors if they wish to visit a nearby island, this give the fishermen money to spend on food and helps protect the corals.  The list is endless how we can help.

We have a very good product, which people in the west dream about, from swaying coconut trees, peace and quite, beautiful beaches, clean water, diving, snorkeling, the rainforest, hot springs, volcanoes non active, so much more than can be written.

To help the locals people and the environment we need continuity of visitors, who understand, and are aware of our aim. and would like to help us protect this incredible part of the world.  You will have an unforgettable time, this we are sure of, and by the time you leave, 95% of you wont want to leave.

Please contact us if you can and would like to help us, or have suggestions how else we can advance to enable us to assist the people of Northern Samar more.

Please feel free to contact me at the address or email on the Home Page.
