Library

The library is key feature of Sound Sequencer. It allows you to manage tracks and
set up carts for play out very quickly. There are three list boxes. The one on the
right selects a category, the one at the bottom selects an
artist within the category and the one on the left selects tracks within
that category and artist. The track list gives you access to the length of the
track and how many times it has been used.
A category can relate to a directory on your system, and the tracks just need to
reside under that directory for them to be automatically imported when you look at
that category. Changes to
timings and other information can be made from within a cart and put back into
the library, but any changes do not affect the original file.
Normally you would only see tracks that are allowed in categories that are allowed,
but if you unselect the category you will see tracks that either have no category
defined or have an unknown category. Do the same for artist and you see those
tracks for which the artist has not been defined. There is a special category/artist
called *all* which shows all tracks whether a category or artist has been defined.
Sometimes you can not see the full name of the track in the track list, but if you
rest the mouse pointer over the name of the track a popup reveals the full name.
To put at track into a cart, click on a track in the track list,
then click on the name at the top of the a cart
and that track gets loaded into the cart. Just selecting a category/artist and
loading into the cart will load a random track out of the track list into the cart.
A double click on a track will
automatically load the track into a special cart called the auto cart, and
start playing it. Double click on a category or an artist and a random track is
played from that category or artist.
Items in the track list are colour coded to signify status:
Green - track is new to the system
Blue - track is ready to use
Yellow - track is available but the database information is out of date
Grey - track is unavailable
Red - track can not be played due to an error
The view can be filtered to show tracks of a required status.
In addition , you have tools to manage the library:
Edit - opens a cart where you can edit the track entry and details
Update - resolves the status for tracks.
Delete - removes tracks from the database (with an option to remove the
source aswell).
Move - moves tracks around categories and artists
Search - creates a category and fills it with tracks that match a given
search criteria
Clear - clears the time last used and use count of a track
