PAC MEDIA STATEMENT

PAC HAS NOT MET MDC AND PAC LAND POLICY HAS NOT CHANGED

The Pan Africanist Congress has not met the MDC of Zimbabwe, neither in London or in Harare as reported by the Citizen of 19th February.

The PAC also denies the report by the Citizen that it has changed its policy of equitably distributing land in South Africa. The PAC policy has been in existence since the formation of the PAC. It is in no way influenced by recent events in Zimbabwe.

The PAC regards the land issue in South Africa so critical to the economic empowerment of the African people, that it is planning a Land Summit to discuss this important national issue and find a just solution to it. The PAC leadership does not believe the Citizen’s report that its Secretary General Cde Thami ka Plaatjie has had secret meeting with MDC and that he has discussed a change of PAC Land Policy.

The PAC holds strongly that the elimination of poverty, eradication of homelessness, provision of jobs, education, health care and other essential services leave this nation with no alternative than that of putting the land question on top of the national agenda.
