9/10/03 A Titan 4 rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station,
Fla., Monday night on a mission to carry a National Reconnaissance Office
payload to orbit. The East Coast blastoff helps clear the way for a Titan
2 rocket awaiting launch at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Officials require about
three weeks between Titan missions to review data and
verify the rocket's performance, but early indications were that the launch
was a success. Crews in California have waited for the Florida mission before
fueling their military weather satellite. Vandenberg
officials said the new launch date hasn't been set, but it won't occur before
Sept. 29.
