Binary are the U.K. distributors of the world leading Adelia/Statistics Query, Report Writer & Download tool.

Within the development work of any IS department, the request for "ad-hoc" reports, screen enquiries, statistical results and downloading data to PC's is forever increasing. These frequent requests can often result in distracting the IS personnel from their development work priorities. In order to address this increasing problem, we have developed a "user oriented" report and screen generator called Adelia Statistics.

This Adelia module is a real RAD development tool, primarily designed to produce "ad-hoc" reports, screen enquiries, statistical results and downloading data to PC's .

The operation of Adelia Statistics can be divided into three main sections, namely:

 Database Management

This section allows you to retrieve the description of your database files and to add new characteristics to them (i.e. new meaningful file names, new 15-character field names, column headings, colours, etc.). Additional calculated fields can be added to the database file description, which are automatically calculated at the query generation time. For example, a new calculated field called PERCENTAGE could be added with the following definition:

IF TOTAL <> 0
PERCENTAGE = AMOUNT / TOTAL
ELSE
PERCENTAGE = 0
END

Other additional fields can be added to the database file description by automatically chaining to another file and retrieving a field description. Additional logical views of the database files can also be defined. All data is secured via an integrated authority management system and confidentiality rules, which may be controlled by file, field and/or value of field.

Report and Screen Design

This section allows you to design reports and screens from one or several files, which were previously referenced in the Database Management section. This section also includes a programming environment, which contains a very powerful 4GL language. This language allows you to define standard calculations such as totals, averages, counts, etc. as well as any other type of algorithm. This section also c

User Operation

Adelia/Statistics enables the end user to obtain quickly and with little effort, all the requested data. It is a powerful and user-friendly tool that gives independence to the users and removes a large backlog of work from the DP departments.

When requesting a query, the end user can:
- enter a selection criterion (before and/or after total calculations),
- select the formats to print or to display (detail and/or totals),
- select the sort criteria.

It also allows data from the AS/400 to be automatically downloaded into a PC application and initialised with the downloaded data.

Public training courses are provided at Binary's offices in Harrow. Private courses can also be arranged at the customer's offices.
