Construction*2000 is the result of seventeen years of constant development, carried out exclusively within Binary Computer Services by people who have worked in the industry for many years and in partnership with our Construction Company Customers. It is a system which has been produced specifically to satisfy the needs of the Construction Industry. It carries out all the essential business operations which are at the heart of any large or small construction company. From its first inception the system was designed to take full advantage of IBM's advanced Relational Database Architecture. Therefore, it makes maximum use of all the facilities offered by IBM’s range of AS/400 computers. Some of the system modules have been redeveloped in the world leading Integrated Computer Aided Software Engineering (I-CASE) tool Adelia, making all future enhancements and maintenance very fast and cost effective.

For practical reasons Construction*2000 is offered to the market in 20 identifiable modules, including a controlling ‘General’ module and an historic ‘Archive’ module. This means that it is not necessary to purchase the whole system if you need only part of it. Where a company has invested considerable time and effort developing parts of their own system, it may be practical to build an interface to some Construction*2000 modules. However, considerable savings in time and cost can be made by adopting the equivalent Construction*2000 module.

All the modules are built to integrate smoothly with each other. This is handled by the management of master files within the General system module. Every system that is installed for a client is set up specifically for them. Modifications can be made quickly and easily, although this is rarely necessary.

The design of the data base is unique. This means that you only have to enter data once. Gone are the days when you spent hours and days reconciling , for example, your costing and nominal ledger. The same data is presented in different ways depending on who is using it.

Evolution

Construction*2000 was originally launched during the mid 1980's and through its subsequent releases has been enhanced with more functionality and additional modules. It has been further developed using our advanced Integrated Computer Aided Software Engineering technology.

The whole system has been Year2000 compliant since the beginning of 1999. There is a new major release approximately once a year, with possible sub-releases throughout the year as well. The current release is Version 11.2.

Report Writing

A comprehensive set of reports is supplied within each system and in most cases these are sufficient. However, any variations to standard reports may be produced by using the integrated report writer (Adelia Statistics) or personally developed on request.

Adelia Statistics is a very powerful Report Writer, which has been integrated into Construction*2000. It allows the user to design and create any ad hoc reports and/or screen interrogations.

Security

The system has 4 levels of security which means that your data is in a very secure environment.

No Data Processing experience is required to operate the system. Automatic Housekeeping has been built into each module which enables the system to automatically close down and save your data base files. The system will also automatically start up the computer at a pre-defined date and time.

The ideal computer solution for our construction customers is to keep all the most sensitive information securely stored on the IBM AS/400 computer, which we consider to be the most secure computer in the world today. With new technology being released nearly every month, it is important that our customers can integrate with it, as and when necessary.

Our Construction/IWS module allows the user to download information from the IBM AS/400 directly into their spreadsheet or word processing programs. This can be achieved very easily, allowing our customers to get the benefit of the security of the AS/400 and the graphical appearance of the PC.

Everything has been designed to make this system easy to use, to the extent that all "HELP" and user manual instructions are held within the system "behind the screen".
