SHANTIES FROM THE GREAT DAY OF SAIL ~ THE MOLLYHAWKS BHCD9801
The Mollyhawks are a shanty singing group established in 1996. They use more harmony in the chorus than is truly authentic but the pace, the rhythms and the precision are as they should be. Their sound is fun and memorable. The harmony arrangements are wonderful. The CD is packaged with a 48-page booklet giving words, sources, uses and origins of the shanties. The sleeve note research brings new information for the true sea shanty buffs.
The name MOLLYHAWKS is a seaman's derivation of mollymawks, the common name for the Black-Browed Albatross.
