    about

Brewhouse was established in 1986 by Eric Cowell and his wife Ray. It is now a well established recording company. After 20 years of activity we have reluctantly decided to close the larger of our two studios and will no longer record music. There are many reasons for this but include the losses resulting from the liquidation over our twenty years of a series of record distributors handling the marketing to trade of our CDs. The resultant losses of revenue have placed a heavy burden together with rising overhead costs. In addition the market for classical music on CD is currently very depressed.

Our current music catalogue is still available to both individual customers and to trade.

We will continue using our small studio which is designed for spoken word, interviews and round table discussions. We have recorded a wide range of material using it including plays, poetry, stories, educational programmes and advertising. We will willingly send samples on CD to prospective customers.

We use an extensive range of microphones varying from AKG414's to lapel clip ons. Sound is mixed through MACKIE equipment. Control room monitoring is by colour TV.

BREWHOUSE has a 'library' of sound effects for use with soundtracks, music, radio programmes, etc. We also make special SFX recordings when necessary including on location.

The BREWHOUSE atmosphere is friendly, congenial and informal. We are told that people like to work here; certainly many true friendships have arisen as a result of studio projects.
