Why should you choose a course in Astrological Psychology?
Astrology is one of the oldest combinations of art and science and although it has often been exploited and misrepresented throughout history it has also, in knowledgeable and skilled hands, become a valuable tool for human development. We still do not know how or why astrology works so it is impossible for anyone to claim that they have found the definitive way to interpret a Birth Chart. However, the approach of Bruno and Louise Huber presents a way of looking at the chart which combines the best of traditional astrology with modern psychological knowledge.
In order that you can decide whether or not you would like to enrol as a student with the School you'll need some information about the Hubers, upon whose work much of the Courses contents are based, about their approach and about the School. We hope that what follows will answer some of your questions.

ABOVE: Bruno & Louise Huber - April 1999
The Hubers (www.Astro-API.ch)- Bruno and Louise Huber first became interested in astrology some 40 years ago. During one summer vacation, whilst Bruno was still at University in Zurich studying Science, he cycled from his native Switzerland over the mountains to Florence, in Italy, where Roberto Assagioli had established his Psychosynthesis Institute. Bruno listened to Assagioli lecturing and was so influenced by what he heard that he changed his course of studies from Science to Psychology and Philosophy, and when he met Louise they found that they shared a common interest not only in these subjects but in astrology as well.
After their marriage in 1953 they began serious investigative work into astrology whilst at the same time studying such related subjects as the history of religions, parapsychology and astronomy. In 1958 they were invited to help set up the Arcane School in Geneva to promote the work of Alice Bailey and the Lucis Trust. This had a great influence on the development of Louise's deep interest in the spiritual aspects of astrology. From Geneva they went back to Florence where they worked as assistants to Assagioli and it was during this time that they began to draw together the threads of astrology and psychology and to perceive how manšs existence was reflected in the birth chart.
More than 30 years of intensive client-centered research has eneabled them to structure a form of astrological psychology which offers a new way of interpreting a birth chart by examining, and giving meaning to, the layers of a human life from the central core of the psyche to the environment in which we live.
API - Astrological Psychology Institute

API HEADQUARTERS, SWITZERLAND
When Bruno and Louise Huber returned to Switzerland from Florence in 1962 they set up the Astrologisch-Psychologisches Institut (API) at Adliswil, Zurich, where they continued their teaching, writing, research and counselling work. Although the work is centred in Switzerland and Germany many seminars are run in other countries and more than 8,000 students all over the world keep in contact.
Since Bruno Huber's untimely death in November 1999, their son, Michael, has taken over more responsibility for the teaching and training offered in Switzerland. Michael has been teaching and researching alongside his parents for many years, and continues to support the work of the Hubers in this way.
In Switzerland, Louise and Michael Huber work from a beautiful house in Adliswil on the outskirts of Zurich. Their Centre is the Astrologisch-Psychologisches-Institut (API) and the English Huber School of Astrological Counselling works under the same initials - Astrological Psychology Institute (UK). Although most of their work is centred in Switzerland and Germany they have run Seminars in many countries abroad and have more than 8,000 students with whom they are in contact all over the world, many of these being professional men and women engaged in the medical field.

API (UK) was established because of demand from English speaking students and because the Hubers' Auto-Didactic series of teaching books has only been published in German.
The School was conceived by Pamela Tyler and Richard Llewellyn in 1983 and became a reality after two years' intensive work. The Diploma Courses are not a translation of German language material but original presentations that have been written in English in co-operation with API, Switzerland.
