History
Coisir
Lunnainn was founded in 1891 and, apart from two periods around both world
wars, it's been meeting ever since. We've competed regularly at the Royal
National Mod since its first appearance in 1925 in Greenock. More recently,
the stewardship of Alan Munro as Conductor has led to consistent Mod success.
THE
MOD: The Royal National Mod is Scotland's premier Gaelic festival and
is held annually in October at a different location in Scotland. The Mod
is a competition-based festival which celebrates the Gaelic language and
culture through solo singing, choral and instrumental music, poetry, art,
storytelling and drama, attracting competitors and visitors from as far
afield as Canada and Australia. The Mod is the biggest event in the choir's
calendar - and we've done pretty well. At the 2001 Mod in Stornoway we
won the Margret Duncan competition again - see the Results page for the
details.
