North Rim Tour - Practical Details

We travelled with Kaibab Mountain Bike Tours who are based in Moab, Utah. I discovered them though surfing the Web, which just goes to show that there occasionally some practical benefit to be had from the Internet.

This is where to find them: (interactive map courtesy of Vicinity)

The North Rim trip is one of the few which they run in the summer - it's simply too hot for many of the Moab-based trips. Check out the web page above for current details.

The trip started in Kanab, which is entirely free of major airports. The nearest ones are Las Vegas and St. George. Kaibab run a shuttle service from St. George. We flew to San Francisco and drove from there which was great, but we did have a couple of weeks spare!

There seemed to be plenty of places to stay in Kanab. We booked in at the Best Western Red Hills which is where the start-of-trip rendevous was, but anywhere else in town would have done just as well. Choose a place with a pool and good washing facilities for both yourself and your clothes; you'll be grateful for it when you get back from the tour!
